Ethel May Simmons, 83, passed away Jan. 29 in Albuquerque. She was born in Pacoima, Calif., on Sept. 10, 1932, to the late John and Gertrude (Murphy) Wagner. Ethel was a kind soul and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maxwell Simmons; daughter, Donna Jean Bowers and sister, Marian Gieslan. Ethel is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Thomas Cardenas of Hobbs, and Nancy and Carl Leishman of Albuquerque; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Ayuko Simmons of Tijeras, and Kenneth Simmons of Mountainair; grandchildren, Lisa Grimes, Linda Black, Yamato Simmons, Kodama Simmons, Chad Bowers, Jason Simmons, Chris Simmons, David Simmons, Eric Simmons, Vanessa Simmons, Jacob Simmons and Sean Grace; and 21 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Feb. 4 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair at 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Mountainair Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl Leishman, Ken Simmons, Terry Simmons, Davey Simmons, Christopher Simmons and Haral Bowers.
