Manzano High’s football team remained undefeated by cruising to a 54-0 mercy-rule-shortened rout over Sandia last Thursday at Wilson Stadium in Albuquerque. The Monarchs retained their top ranking in the state, earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Class 6A playoffs and a first-round bye.

Estancia’s Josh Thomas scored four touchdowns rushing to help lead the Bears to a 59-8 blowout at Laguna-Acoma last Friday. The game ended in the third quarter on the mercy rule. With the win, the Bears improved to 6-4, 4-0 in district, and got the No. 4 seed in the Class 3A playoffs and a first-round bye.

Estancia volleyball picked up a No. 4 seed in the upcoming state tournament that gets underway Thursday in Rio Rancho.

Moriarty football lost on the road at Ruidoso last Friday, 39-31. The Pintos finished the regular season 7-3; they earned the fifth seed in the Class 4A state playoffs and will host No. 12 Socorro (4-6) Friday at 7 p.m.
