Billy Dan Shield, 58, passed away June 1 in Estancia. He was born Aug. 8, 1958 in Albuquerque to the late Bob and Helen Marie (Gibbs) Shield. Billy was an extraordinary artist and specialized in drawing. He loved the outdoors and was an excellent horseshoe player. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. Billy was also preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Deon Shield. He is survived by his brothers, Roy and Maria Shield of Estancia and James Allen and Nancy Shield of Tyrone, Okla.; stepbrother, James Alan and Joy King of Moriarty; stepsisters, Sue of Colorado and Judy of New Mexico, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service was held June 3 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty.
