Nancy Delfino is renting a space in the Church Street Market for her new business, called Delfino’s Flowers and Gifts. Her grand opening will be on Feb. 1 starting at 9 a.m. She will have refreshments available until noon.
Delfino is originally from the Boston area, and graduated from floral design school in Boston. She has been in New Mexico for 28 years. She currently lives in Corrales. Delfino recently retired from APS, where she worked as a school psychologist for 25 years.
Delfino had a booth at the Church Street Market over the Christmas holiday and ran into Carolyn Williams, who happened to be a former colleague. After having a warm response to her booth, Delfino decided to open a store in Edgewood.
Delfino is a full-service florist. She makes custom arrangements and she keeps pre-made arrangements on hand. She also does vase and basket arrangements and corsages. Delfino’s process starts with a consultation. From there it can take up to two weeks for a custom order to get the right flowers in. For exotic flowers the wait can be up to three weeks.
Delfino also does orders for weddings and funerals. For weddings a 3-week notice is required; for funerals a 72-hour notice is required.
In addition to floral arrangements, Delfino also offers a selection of gifts. Her inventory includes hand-crafted soaps, vases, placemats, napkins and framed pressed flower arrangements.
For Valentine’s Day, Delfino will be offering a delivery service. For all Valentine’s Day orders $30 and over ordered and paid for before Feb. 10, the store will be offering a 15 percent discount.
The price range of her store is $5 to $3,000. She is open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday she accepts call in orders, emailed orders and online orders through delfino.online or 505-227-6928.
