Bobby Lee Meadows, 82, passed away Sept. 6 in Clovis. He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Mountainair, to the late Robert Lee and Virgie (Wiswell) Meadows. Bobby was a lifetime resident of Mountainair and a member of the First Baptist Church of Corona. He was an excellent father with a kind-hearted soul. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. Bobby was also preceded in death by his wife, Louella Meadows. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Hank and Barbara Meadows of Clovis; daughter, Nancy Meadows of Clovis, and brother, Marvin Meadows of Socorro. A funeral service was held Sept. 14 at First Baptist Church of Corona, with Pastor Cal West and Pastor Tony Reynolds officiating. Interment immediately followed at the Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bennie Paschall, Danny Lueras, Wendell Wells, Carl Borders, Clay Burton and John Sisk. Arrangements were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
Leota started working for The Independent in 2006, working her way up through the ranks. An employee buyout in 2010 led to her ownership of the newspaper. Leota has served on the board of the N.M.
