Cowboy Days runs for 16 days, though this spotlight focuses on a few events from June 14-20. Most activities are free or low cost.

ALL WEEKEND – Friday, Saturday, Sunday

GOAT YOGA (2 p.m. and 4 p.m.) It’s yoga with kids (the baby goat variety)! People age 5 and up can directly interact with baby goats and experience yoga taught by a certified yogi. Location: Wildlife West Nature Park Cost: $20/participant, includes all-day park admission.

TRINKETS & TREASURES TRAIL (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) Meander through flea markets, thrift stores, and gift shops to discover antiques, horse gear, décor, jewelry, art, and unexpected finds. Location: Edgewood. Details at

BAND NIGHTS (Friday & Saturday, 6-9 p.m.) Live music fills the beer garden, with different bands on each night. Enjoy award-winning brews (gold medal winners at national and world-champ levels) under the summer skies. Location: Sierra Blanca Brewing Company. Cost: per menu

June 15 (5-8 p.m.)

COMMUNITY COWBOY SUPPER – Enjoy a campfire-style special dinner set at family style, long tables where you can meet new friends and share tall tales. Location: Chili Hills, Edgewood. Cost: per menu

June 15 & 16 (2 p.m. & 6 p.m.)

LIVE MELODRAMA – “Sweet Pearl, What a Fate for That Girl -or- There’s No Place Like Nome,” is light-hearted family entertainment, where the audience gets to Boo the Villain, Cheer the bumbling Hero, and laugh at more silly jokes that can possibly be legal, brought to the community by Edgewood Lions Club. Location: Wildlife West Nature Park Cost: Admission to the park

June 16 (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.)

EQUESTRIAN GAMES – A day of games on horseback. Whether you’re a rider or a spectator, it’s easy to appreciate the beauty of horses engaged in challenging activities such as barrel races, pole bending, and broomball dribbling. Or just enjoy the 1.6 miles of trails around the arena. Organized by High Desert Riders, a local non-profit equestrian group. Location: Edgewood Equestrian Center. Cost: free for spectators; nominal fee for participants

June 16 (7-9 p.m.)

DESSERT WITH MELODRAMA CAST – Meet the cast of “Sweet Pearl” and enjoy friendly community gathering. Location: Chili Hills, Edgewood) Cost: per menu

MOVIE UNDER THE STARS – “Flicka” (PG) is a perennial, family favorite brought to the outdoor screen by Town of Edgewood. Bring you lawn chair or blanket, enjoy free popcorn, too. Location: Edgewood Soccer Complex at 228 State Road 344. Cost: Free

June 17 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

15th ANNUAL FATHER’S DAY CAR SHOW – An amazing array of the coolest cars, trucks, hot rods, in one of New Mexico’s best annual car shows. Whether it’s horsepower, chrome or the classics you love, it’s here! Lots of trophies, vendors, prizes, contests, and food. Proceeds support the Edgewood Mobile Food Pantry at Valley View Church. Location: Walmart in Edgewood. Cost: Spectators free

June 17 (10 a.m. & 12 p.m.)

FIND YOUR INNER COWBOY – Hands-on class in horsemanship where participants learn about equines and learn the basics of caring for and interacting with these beautiful creatures. Adults and youth welcome. Location: Blue Barn Stables, Edgewood Cost: Free

June 18 (5-9pm)

DQ BLIZZARD NITE – America’s favorite summertime treat, ice cream! Be the family hero, beat the summer heat, and enjoy special deals. Location: Trails West Dairy Queen. Cost: per menu

June 19 (10:30 a.m.)

WAY OF THE DRUM with Arnold Herrera of Cochiti Pueblo is a unique Chautauqua presentation. Personal experiences, traditional stories and teachings of Cochiti Pueblo, and a demonstration of constructing a Cochiti drum. Herrera, a lifelong New Mexico artist, is a master of several traditional Pueblo art forms and a cultural interpreter. Location: Edgewood Library. Cost: Free

June 19 (5-8 p.m.)

BOGOHO BURGER NITE – (Buy One, Get One Half Off) is a special deal and great way to begin your search for the best burger in the East Mountains. Location: Katrinah’s East Mountain Grill, Edgewood. Cost: per menu

June 20 (5-8 p.m.)

DOUBLE DUKE BURGER CHALLENGE – A must-try on your quest for burger perfection. Finish the meal (burger, side of fries or o-rings, and beverage) in under 30 minutes, and it’s free. Location: Chili Hills, Edgewood. Cost: per menu
