Cowboy Days – Week 3 Spotlight  (June 27-30)

June 27 (10:30 a.m.)

STORY TIME – For pre-school and kindergarten-age children (w/parent supervision). Listen to stories and participate in fun age-appropriate activities (typically: arts and crafts, song and rhythm, movement games, and educational presentations). Location: Edgewood Library (171-B State Road 344) Cost: Free

June 27 (5-8pm)

DOUBLE DUKE BURGER CHALLENGE – a must-try on your quest for burger perfection. Finish the complete meal (burger, side of fries or o-rings, and beverage) in under 30 minutes, it’s free. Location: Chili Hills Edgewood (5 State Road 344) Cost: per menu

June 28 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

HANDS-ON ARCHEOLOGY – Local archeologist Chuck Hannaford, shares the wide range of historical artifacts discovered in New Mexico from multiple time periods. Learn how the study of ancient sites and artifacts reveals New Mexico’s prehistoric culture and lifeways. Bring your curious artifacts and Dr. Hannaford will help identification and use. Location: Edgewood Community Library (171-B State Road 344) Cost: Free

GOAT YOGA — A yoga class (led by certified yogi) with the baby goats. For ages 6 and up, all ability levels. Class include full-day admission to the park, too. BAND NIGHTS – Live music and award-winning brews in the beautiful, outdoor beer garden. Friday night is CW Ayon; Saturday night is Cowboy (Scott Conners). Location: Sierra Blanca Brewing Co. (1016 Industrial Way, Moriarty) Cost: $5 cover

June 29 (6-9 p.m.)

COWBOY DAYS PAINTING PARTY – Create your own piece of art. Step-by-step instruction by local artist Chris Pennington makes it easy and fun. All art supplies provided, as well as refreshments. Take your completed artwork home to display. Location: Pictures by Day (2 George Court) Cost: $35/pp

June 29 (6-10 p.m.)

COWBOY DAYS STREET DANCE — Enjoy DJ dance music under the stars, refreshments, and small-town fun. Organizers say, “No need to get all gussied up… just show up in your boots and jeans, spurs and hats optional.” Location: Advanced Performance Chiropractic Massage and Matt Kunkle State Farm Insurance (1841 Historic Hwy 66, Edgewood) Cost: Free

June 30 (10 a.m.-6 p.m.)

WILDLIFE FESTIVAL — Celebrate wildlife New Mexico. Visitors will have rare opportunity to be close to wildlife, observe their behavior and get a behind-the-scenes tour of Koshari, a 500-pound black bear, Wiley Coyote, and the newest arrivals – two young mountain lions. Many more animals, too. Location: Wildlife West Nature Park (87 N. Frontage Rd.) Cost: $5-9/pp

June 30 (2 p.m.)

MOVIE “PHOENIX WILDER: AND THE GREAT ELEPHANT ADVENTURE” – An inspirational true story of a young boy who works to stop elephant poaching in Africa. Location: Wildlife West Nature Park (87 N. Frontage Rd., Edgewood) Cost: $5-9 (or included with admission to Wildlife Festival – details above).

June 30 (6-9 p.m.)

CHUCKWAGON DINNER SHOW — Enjoy BBQ dinner with all the fixins’ followed by live music from Watermelon Mountain Jug Band. Free-flight raptor show included. Takes place rain or shine in covered amphitheater or historic bean barn. Dinner reservations required by 2 p.m. day of show; vegetarian option available. Location: Wildlife West Nature Park (87 N. Frontage Rd., Edgewood) Cost: $12 kids (5-11)/$25 seniors/$27 adults
