David Roberts, 84, passed away Sept. 13 in Edgewood. He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Indiana to the late William and Elizabeth Roberts. For 20 years David served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam War. For almost 40 years he served with the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter, Fire Chief, Emergency Medical Technician and treasurer. David lived in Edgewood since 1975, and was a member at Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarty. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Walker. David is survived by his wife Essie Belle Roberts of Edgewood; sons, Larry Walker Sr. and Allen Walker; daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Damon Barnes; and sisters Kate and Annie; five grandchildren, Anson Walker, Aaron and his wife Marla Walker, Jennifer Walker, Cyndi and Juanita Schlauger as well as five great-grandchildren, Calista Walker, Dahlia Walker, Candice, Tyler and Braxton Schlauger. A memorial service is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Moriarty, with Pastor Bill Winscott to officiate.
