Dorothy Neeley Cole 76 peacefully passed away March 5. Dorothy was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Round Top Community to Doc and Johnnie Belle Neeley. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Doc and Johnnie Belle; sister Geneva LaJune Neeley and brother Johnny Ray Neeley. She is survived by sister Betty Kahalekulu and husband Ben of Denver, Colo., and Bobby Gene Neeley of Estancia, twin sister Barbara Neeley of Mountainair, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was retired from US West Telephone and had her brokers real estate license in Colorado before moving back home to Mountainair. Dorothy was know around town for her involvement in many different functions. She wrote and produced “Diamonds In The Field,” “Songs Of Our Fathers,” was Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce for a few years and was always looking for things that could improve our town. A celebration of her life will be held March 13 at 2 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
