On July 8 the Estancia Future Farmers of America Chapter held its annual officers’ training. The meeting was held at Capilla Peak, and a picnic lunch was enjoyed by all of the 2016-17 Chapter Officers, which include Daniel Lujan as President, Anne Everett as Vice President, Andrew Lujan as Secretary, Matthew Lindeman as Reporter, Arliss Corliss as Treasurer, and Luke Pope Chaplain. Chapter Sentinel- Lucas Fastnacht was not in attendance.
During the meeting we discussed how to make our chapter work together, grow in scope and knowledge and established an Officer Vision for the Chapter Officer team. At the end of the meeting on the way down the mountain the officers scaled a 15-foot rock face to take the officers’ photo.
The July FFA meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on July 14 at the Agriculture building. All current FFA members and upcoming 7th-grade members are invited to attend.
Additionally a pie auction was scheduled for July 22 to support the travel fees for the Estancia FFA Meats team as they will be traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana to represent New Mexico at the National FFA Convention. We will have a meal of BBQ sandwiches and Frito Pies at 6 p.m. to be held in the lobby of the main gym of Estancia High School.
Admission to the meal will be one canned good which will go to support local food pantries. The pie auction will begin at 7 p.m., so come and purchase your favorite desserts and help support our state winning FFA Meats Team.
