Etta Leah Ackerman, 69, passed away Oct. 16. She was born Oct. 10, 1947 in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Herman F. and Etta Mae (Smith) Dunn. On Feb. 14, 1986, she married Gino Ackerman in Las Vegas, Nevada. Etta was a longtime employee of Bethel Community Storehouse, a lover of animals, a proud member of the N.R.A. and had her concealed carry permit. She was extremely caring and loving and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and community. Etta is survived by her husband, Gino L. Ackerman of Moriarty; sons, Scott and Lisa Ashford of Pahrump, Nev., and Robert B. and Jen Ackerman of Hawaii; daughters, Tonja Ashford of Moriarty, Joell Ackerman of Albuquerque, Leah Ackerman of Edgewood and Lacy Ackerman of Moriarty; brother, Herman F. and Carol Dunn III; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at Crossroads Bible Fellowship in Edgewood, with Pastor Gale Holt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local animal shelter in Etta’s name would be greatly appreciated.
