A forum for candidates from both Democrat and Republican parties will be held Oct. 29 in Estancia.

The forum will be moderated by Leota Harriman, editor of The Independent newspaper; video of the forum will also be at edgewood.news.

The forum will be hosted by Peter Nieto, Mountainair town councilor, and snacks will be provided by the East Torrance Soil & Water Conservation District.

Confirmed candidates include Liz Stefanics, running for state Senate District 39; Matthew McQueen and Jeremy Tremko, both running for state House District 50; Clint Wellborn and Lee Deschamps, both running for District Attorney in the Seventh Judicial District; Edwina “George” Hewett, Javier Sanchez and Fred Sanchez, all running for Torrance County Commission in District 3; and candidates for Torrance County Treasurer, Margarita Hibbs and Tracy Sedillo.

Other candidates who have been invited include Ted Barela, also running for state Senate District 39.

The forum will be held in two parts, with county candidates starting at 9 a.m., and state candidates starting at 10:45 a.m. at the Torrance County commission chambers in Estancia.
