Jones “Sonny” Louis Kite was born Feb. 14, 1934 in Gran Quivira to Jack and Louise Kite. Sonny passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at his home in Scholle, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack and Louise Kite; sister, Jackie Kite and wife Bea Kite. He is survived by two brothers, Melvin Kite of Kingmond, Ariz., and Paul Kite and his wife Gayle of Mountainair; five daughters, Suzan Brazil and her husband Greg of Scholle, Jeannie Anglin and her husband Johnny of Truth or Consequences, Lois Casey and her husband Joe of Loving, Kathy Anglin and her husband Dennis of Mountainair, and Christie Mims and her husband Boyd of Bishopville, S.C.; 15 grandkids and 35 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation was held Aug. 6 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair. The funeral service followed, with Pastor Darrell Roberts officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Brazil, David Rainy, Phillip Nelson, Travis Casey, Johnny Perea and Jody Anglin. Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
