Much cooler and wetter weather is in store for the East Mountains over the weekend, especially Sunday. High pressure will bring a hot dry day on Friday. High pressure redevelops over the Pacific Northwest on Saturday. This will allow a series of backdoor cold fronts to move across New Mexico bring progressively cooler and wetter conditions. Saturday night into Sunday morning looks to be windy thru Tijeras Canyon as a strong backdoor cold front moves into the Rio Grande Valley. It might not be the monsoon but it will be cooler and wetter all the same. It would not be surprising if a few places get more than an inch of rain on Sunday!

For Edgewood, Moriarty and the Estancia Valley, Friday will be hot and dry. High temperatures will be around 90 degrees with overnight lows Friday night in the lower to middle 50s. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the lower to middle 80s. Overnight low temperatures Saturday night will be in the lower 50s. Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Sunday. High temperatures on Sunday will be in the lower to middle 70s. A welcome relief!

For Cedar Crest, Tijeras and Sedillo areas, Friday will be hot and dry. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s with overnight lows Friday night around 60 degrees. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the lower to middle 80s. Overnight low temperatures Saturday night will be in the middle to upper 50s. Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Sunday. High temperatures on Sunday will be in the lower to middle 70s. A welcome relief!
