Karen Bartelt-Marshall passed away Feb. 13. Karen was born on Sept. 9, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Burton Bartelt and Lorraine (Malueg) Bartelt. She lived in Wisconsin until 1992 when she moved to Florida for a job with Comcast as the Pay Per View Coordinator for the area from Jacksonville to Key West. As coordinator she met many boxing legends, including Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, and Oscar De La Hoya. Karen met the love of her life, Scott Marshall, in 1996 and was married in 1998. Their marriage ceremony was portrayed on the Learning Channel as A Wedding Story to let everyone know that you will always find the right person—it’s never too late. They moved to New Mexico in 2005, where Karen was finally able to have horses in her own yard. Karen loved her horses which included one she rescued. She requested that memorial donations be sent to Walkin in Circles Ranch, an equine rescue, which has information at wncr.org. Arrangements were entrusted to Harris-Hanlon Mortuary.
