Lu Van De Valde, 63, passed away Oct. 7 in her home in Moriarty. She was born Oct. 2, 1953 in Santa Fe, to the late Paul and Mae Belle (Maupin) Gentry. Lu lived in New Mexico for most of her life and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was a good and faithful friend and will be greatly missed. Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Van De Valde; brother, George Vane Gentry and sister, Ila Rae Holcomb. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Miranda Adams of Santa Fe, Angela and Jude Baca of Moriarty, Sarah Tenorio of Moriarty, Jodi and Calvin Davis Jr. of Moriarty; and sister, Jolene Gomez of Pojoaque; and nine grandchildren, D.J., Mary, William, Mirandah, Matthew, Lila Belle, Evan, Riyanna and Peyton. A memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Santa Fe.
