The Moriarty-Edgewood School District is seeking an applicant to join the school board for a 3-month appointment.

The vacancy is in District 1, described roughly as west of N.M. 344 and north of Dinkle, including areas north of Frost Road in Golden and Stanley. The seat was held by Todd McCarty, who served close to 12 years, or almost three full terms, according to district superintendent Tom Sullivan.

The school district’s press release solicits a person who would “be expected to then run as the District 1 candidate February 7, 2017, at the regularly scheduled Board election.”

Any registered voter who lives within the boundary of District 1 is eligible to apply. To be considered for the appointment, the following documents must be received by the superintendent’s office: a letter of interest “highlighting the qualities and contributions you wish to bring” and a resumé “noting your background and work experience, including any volunteer work” in the schools or community.

Documents may be hand-delivered or mailed to the superintendent’s office. The physical address for central administration of the district is the old Mountainview Elementary campus at 2422 Hwy. 333, Moriarty.

The mailing address for submissions is: Moriarty-Edgewood School District, Attn: Board of Education Vacancy, P.O. Box 2000, Moriarty, NM 87035.

Letters of interest and supporting documents must be received by the school district by Oct. 11. The school board will review the documents, and may schedule interviews with finalists.
