We are proud and excited to announce that the East Mountain Chamber of Commerce is now officially the East Mountain Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Since I began working with this Chamber as executive director in April 2016, we have grown exponentially, increasing our membership from double digits to triple, and currently have over 120 active and potential members from Albuquerque through Estancia and beyond.
Along with a new year and a new board of directors, we have a new name, and many terrific plans for 2018, including more networking events such as our First Thursday Monthly Luncheon Meetings and Mixers, which we now rotate throughout the region to best accommodate our vast membership. Some of the venues offered by members for our luncheon meetings include Legacy Church in Edgewood, Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras and MAGS Indoor Shooting Range in Moriarty. We have also enjoyed socializing and networking at evening mixers, including those at ReMax Pros in Cedar Crest and Magnum Steel Buildings in Moriarty. In addition, we are planning to offer networking opportunities in a breakfast setting, thereby accommodating all business owners’ various schedules.
In October 2017, we successfully introduced our first annual Taste of the East Mountains event, hosted by Legacy Edgewood Campus. which drew more than 800 people from Albuquerque to Estancia. We were also featured on Channel 4 and the event was publicized by KXNM radio 88.7 FM. Those who attended enjoyed samples of food and beverages from East Mountain Regional Chamber members’ establishments, including breweries, restaurants, makers of artisan soft drinks and popcorn. As well, we had a variety of interesting items for sale and information being disseminated regarding the organizations and businesses and the products and services of our diverse membership.
Having the event has noticeably increased awareness for many of our East Mountain Regional businesses. We have so much to offer, and our goal and desire is to create additional opportunities and exposure for our region by attracting tourists and neighbors alike to our area.
The sole purpose of our Regional Chamber of Commerce is to benefit our members along with the communities we serve. This region is a great place to live, work and play, and we enjoy our ability to promote the hidden jewels and known businesses of our area.
Among our members are charitable organizations that we support in their efforts to make a positive impact on the residents of the East Mountain Region. These include the American Cancer Society, Walkin’ N Circles Ranch, and N.M. Workforce Connection. One thing all of our members have in common is the desire to maximize the quality of life in the East Mountain Region.
