Estancia boys basketball picked up a 54-48 win over District 6-3A rival Laguna-Acoma last Friday, the day after beating Santa Fe Prep, 56-51; the Lady Bears lost Friday at Laguna, 51-31.

Moriarty girls basketball improved its record to 15-7, and 2-0 in District 5-5A, with last Friday’s 51-34 road victory over Grants; the boys squad lost last Friday at home to Grants, 63-43. The Lady Pintos hosted Albuquerque Academy Tuesday, while the boys played at Academy; both games concluded after The Independent went to print.
