Moriarty High’s football team remained unbeaten after last Friday’s 55-8 route at Española Valley. Elijah Tapia, Matt Smith, and Marvin Encinias each scored two touchdowns rushing, while Dylan Tapia and Nick Padilla threw a TD pass apiece. The Pintos are currently tied for the No. 1 Class 4A spot in the state on maxpreps.com; they host 5A Capital Friday.

Moriarty’s boys soccer team lost 1-0 last Saturday at Socorro, two days after falling 2-0 at home to Del Norte; Ashley Strader scored Moriarty’s lone goal in the Lady Pintos’ 2-1 overtime loss last Saturday at home against Socorro. The loss came two days after getting blanked 1-0 by Del Norte. Both Moriarty’s soccer squads played at Ruidoso Tuesday after The Independent went to print.

Moriarty volleyball won its ninth match of the season Monday with a 3-1 victory at Los Alamos.

Mountainair football pounded Cloudcroft 60-18 at home last Friday.

Mountainair volleyball won two of three matches at last weekend’s Mountain Top tournament in Cloudcroft. The Lady Mustangs beat Lordsburg and host Cloudcroft after losing Friday’s first round to Eunice.

Estancia’s volleyball team won its third match in a row after beating Tularosa 3-1 last Saturday at home.

East Mountain’s boys soccer battled to a 2-2 draw last Saturday at Bosque, two days after losing at home 3-1 to Hatch Valley; the boys hosted Los Alamos Tuesday.

East Mountain’s girls soccer lost 10-0 Saturday at Bosque two days after Analise Salas’ goal in the 75th minute lifted them to a 3-2 win at home over Hatch.

East Mountain volleyball hosted Estancia Tuesday after The Independent went to print.

East Mountain’s annual Timberwolf Trail Run/Walk is Saturday before the Nick Martin Memorial Invite. Registration is at 7 a.m. The fee is $35 for adults, $20 children under 12; proceeds benefit East Mountain’s athletic dept. Call 220-6321.
