Moriarty football picked up its first victory of the season with a 24-7 road win over Belen.
Moriarty’s girls soccer team is riding its first winning streak in several years after beating Rio Grande 3-1 Tuesday. The win came on the heels of edging Santa Fe High 2-1 in overtime last Thursday, which followed a 3-2 victory on the road at Portales Sept. 1.
Manzano football lost last Thursday’s home-opener 34-17 to the visiting Volcano Vista Hawks.
Manzano volleyball picked up its second consecutive victory by outlasting West Mesa in five sets, 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 16-14).
Manzano girls soccer “rounded up the APS Metro with two hard-fought wins,” according to first-year coach Todd Alam. The Lady Monarchs beat West Mesa and Atrisco Heritage, both by a score of 2-1. Manzano senior and East Mountain resident Hope Hiester scored goals in both victories.
East Mountain girls soccer blanked host Santa Fe Prep 4-0 last Saturday, the same day East Mountain’s boys squad edged visiting Santa Fe Prep 4-3 in overtime.
Mountainair football lost its home-opener to Tatum, 50-6.
