Manzano High School’s football team picked up its third victory of the season Oct. 12 with a 19-0 shutout over the visiting Clovis High Wildcats. Monarchs quarterback Dakota Powell connected on a touchdown pass to Jack Blankenship—both are East Mountain residents. Powell also ran for a TD. The Monarchs host Sandia High Oct. 19 at Albuquerque’s Wilson Stadium.

Mountainair High School’s 8-man football team improved to 7-1 Oct. 12 with a 54-6 rout over Albuquerque’s Menaul School Panthers. The Mustangs have a bye until Oct. 25 when they play at Alamo Navajo.

Moriarty High School’s boys and girls soccer squads played at Taos Oct. 16. Chloe Rector’s hat trick (three goals) helped lift the Lady Pintos to a 5-0 victory; the boys squad lost 5-0. Both Moriarty’s boys and girls squads hosted Pojoaque Valley Oct. 18.
