Mountainair High School’s volleyball team improved to 13-5 overall, 4-0 in District 3-1A with its 3-2 victory at home Oct. 23 over district rival Carrizozo. The Mustangs’ 8-man football team (7-1, 3-0 in district) played at Alamo Navajo Oct. 25.

Moriarty High School’s girls soccer squad lost Oct. 23 at Los Alamos 6-1; the Lady Pintos finished their regular season Oct. 25 at home with a… X  Taos. Moriarty’s boys soccer squad lost 9-0 at Los Alamos Oct. 23; the Pintos hosted Taos Oct. 25, and play their final game Oct. 26 at East Mountain. Moriarty’s volleyball squad lost 3-1 at home Oct. 23 to Espanola Valley. Moriarty football lost Oct. 19 at Lovington, 50-6; the Pintos play at district rival Portales Oct. 26.

Estancia High School’s volleyball squad lost Oct. 23 at Magdalena, 3-1; the Lady Bears (11-6, 6-1) hosted district rival Alamo Navajo Oct. 25. After a bye week, Estancia High’s football team (5-3, 3-0) hosts district rival Lordsburg (3-6, 3-0) Oct. 26. Estancia distance runner Jaimey Fastnacht placed second in the Small Schools event at the Oct. 20 Rio Rancho Jamboree cross country meet.

East Mountain High School’s distance runners Amelia Johnson finished 28th and Marissa Case finished 30th out of nearly 200 runners in the Championship event at the Oct. 20 Rio Rancho Jamboree; East Mountain’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to Sandia Prep Oct. 23; the Lady Timberwolves play at Bosque Oct. 26. East Mountain’s boys soccer squad finishes its season hosting Moriarty Oct. 26.
