Manzano football picked up a District 2-6A victory last Friday with a 42-0 blowout over the Highland Hornets.

Mountainair’s Taylor Gikas and Amber Lajeunesse took first and second place, respectively, against runners from their district at last weekend’s Rio Rancho Jamboree cross country meet.

Mountainair volleyball picked up a 3-0 sweep over Tierra Encantada last Thursday. The Lady Mustangs bested Estancia 3-2 Oct. 13 at the Lady Bears’ home court.

The Lady Bears got past Clayton 3-2 at home last Friday.

Estancia volleyball hosted East Mountain Tuesday after The Independent went to print.

East Mountain volleyball swept last Saturday’s match at Thoreau, 3-0.

East Mountain girls soccer blanked Ruidoso 3-0 Monday at home; the boys squad lost Monday’s match against Ruidoso, 3-2.
