Susie E. Swope, 74, a resident of Truth or Consequences, died April 12. She is survived by her children, Ken Chancellor and wife, Rose, Jackie Foster and husband, Dave, Eileen Aguirre, Mary Higgins, Ben Swope, and Kathy Potter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Swope; granddaughter, Brittany Swope; and brother, Pat Butler. She was born in 1941 in Moriarty, to C.T. and Dora Butler, and graduated from Moriarty High School. She then attended New Mexico State in Las Cruces where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Susie taught Home Economics in Moriarty. She worked as a bus contractor for a number of years and also founded Matthew 25 Food Pantry in T or C. Susie always felt the need to take care of everybody. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and as per Susie’s request, no services will be held.
