A woman who had suffered an “unknown trauma” in Cedar Crest died last week. That’s according to a press release from Capt. Joshua Campos, the East Mountain Area Commander for the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.

The death is being treated as suspicious, according to Campos.

The woman was identified as 64-year-old Carolyn Jeffery. She was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead by doctors, the press release said.

“There were two children also located on scene, inside the residence, and both children are in the custody of CYFD,” Campos wrote.

Spokeswoman Felicia Romero said by email Tuesday that no additional information is available.

Those with information about the death are urged to contact the Sheriff’s department at 505-798-7000.
